Hi, I'm Velvette (sounds like the car, not the fabric!).

I'm a Graphic Designer, Design Researcher and Co-Design Workshop Facilitator. I help organizations understand how the people who matter most to them are feeling and what they need, then I facilitate the process where their team innovates on what comes next.

The idea of the unknown becoming tangible is exactly the purpose of dewpoint lab

The vapor you can't see becomes a drop you can hold

tangible.

What's felt, made

That's how this work feels to me. People hold a lot about their work, the things they buy, and the places they live that they feel but rarely get asked about. My job is to help surface it and shape it into something a team can see and act on.

Have you ever watched the air turn to water on a cold glass? That's the dew point: the moment vapor you can't see becomes a drop you can hold.

Why 'Dewpoint'?

the Designer's eye and the Researcher's rigor.

As a Graphic Designer, I worked in corporate, agency, and academic settings, and then ran my own design studio for 8+ years.

I earned an MA in Visual Communications and an MFA in Design Research and Development from Ohio State.

While running my former studio, I realized that one part of the design process I truly enjoyed was the initial research and getting to know my client and their audience, which led me to Design Research. In my role as a VP Lead EX Researcher at one of the world's largest banks, I was able to build research teams, and dig deeper into understanding the needs of a workforce of over 300,000 employees and impact their day-to-day.

Now, with Dewpoint Lab, both halves are brought together:

How I use AI

How I protect people + data

I use AI tools to help me plan projects and to organize and analyze research data. Humans do everything else. I design and facilitate every session, and I write, edit, and review every deliverable myself. No finding reaches you until I've checked it against what participants said.

Before any research data goes into an AI tool, I remove names and details that could identify someone (all Personally Identifyable Information and Company information). I do my best to only use AI tools whose settings keep your data out of their model training.

  • Taking part in the research is voluntary. Participants can skip any question, stop at any time, or ask to have what they shared removed before the report is written
  • Whenever possible, conversations happen outside your company's systems, so no one is recorded on internal tools, and people feel safe to speak freely (if internal tools are required, questions can be reframed to remove potential for exposure)
  • Reports share themes, not names. Quotes are edited to remove identifying details. If there is a chance that a quote could identify someone, it is left out of the workshop, final report, and share-out
  • Leadership sees the patterns, not who said what. I don't share individual responses
  • During the project, recordings, transcripts, and notes are stored securely and only I can access them (plus an assigned internal support, if necessary)
  • After the project, I permanently delete raw recordings, transcripts, and notes within 60 days of the final deliverable, unless I am requested to retain for longer
  • What you keep is the anonymized report and the workshop outputs your team created
  • What I keep is the anonymized report, broad survey data for follow-up metrics-measuring, and I'll only share the work publicly, as a case study or example, with your approval
